Next to the marvellous old Tudor manor, an 18th-century granary has been converted into a stylish bolthole for two. Overlooking the surrounding fields and the immaculate formal gardens, this is a contemporary retreat in the Kent countryside. The owners have expertly blended comfort with clever modern design.
You will sleep in a king-sized sleigh bed in a serene, blue/grey bedroom on the ground floor; bathe luxuriously in an underfloor-heated bathroom with bold, blue walls. Upstairs, the lovely open-plan space is split into a sleek little kitchen with blue-gloss units, and a cosy living area full of books and interesting curios. Welcome goodies including bread, milk and coffee together with a taste of local produce set you up for your stay.
You will admire the bucolic views from the glass balcony, or hop on a bike to explore further afield. Fabulous gardens, planted with fragrant lavender, roses and fruit trees, are shared with guests at the Grange, but there’s masses of space and privacy for everyone. Superb walks start from the door and Ash is only a mile down the road for self-catering supplies, Sandwich just a couple of miles further. Canterbury’s ancient cathedral and the white cliffs of Dover are a short drive away.
